The Band of 1 Southern Brigade (Ireland)

The Band of 1 Southern Brigade, one of three military bands of the Defence Forces School of Music, has been located at Collins Barracks, Cork, since 1926.
The Band is an essential component of the military life of the Southern Brigade and renders musical honours at all military and State ceremonies. In addition to its military duties the band fulfils numerous engagements at community and corporate events throughout Munster. Schools concerts are also a very important part of its work.
Recently, the band has been invited to perform at music festivals and military tattoos abroad. In 2004 the band participated in events associated with the St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Toronto, Canada. The band has also performed at the Royal Military School of Music, London and members of the band performed at a joint Christmas Peace Concert with The Band of the Irish Guards held at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast.
