NEWS: December 2007 The Choral Festival is delighted to welcome the National Chamber Choir to Cork in May 2008. 'Christmas Tidings' Ireland’s premier choir, The National Chamber Choir has announced details of its Christmas concert series titled "Christmas Tidings". The first of these concerts will take place in Cork at the CIT Curtis Auditorium on Sunday 16th December at 1.00pm. This concert will be conducted by the celebrated Irish conductor, Brian MacKay and will be produced in association with RTÉ lyric fm. Joining the National Chamber Choir on stage will be RTÉ Lyric fm’s Evelyn Grant to present the concert live on air as part of Lyric fm’s Lunchtime Choice concert programme. The concert will celebrate the choral magic of Christmas. The programme will include favourite traditional Christmas carols such as Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful and Ding Dong Merrily on High. The programme will also feature Christmas settings by composers such as Vaughan Williams, Monteverdi and William Byrd together with excerpts from Handel’s Messiah. Adding to this special festive treat will be a specially selected group of strings and trumpets to perform with the National Chamber Choir.
