Conductor's Masterclass 2010

The Association of Irish Choirs and Cork International Choral Festival, in association with Cork School of Music are delighted to·offer a masterclass for·conductors with Brady Allred. The masterclass will be·open to established conductors who wish to improve their skills and·techniques, working at a high level under the guidance of this highly·regarded conductor and teacher.·Each conductor will be expected to have prepared the music in advance and will be allowed at least 30 minutes of 'stand time' and will be allowed 30 minutes to work with renowed Irish choir, Tribal Chamber Choir. The masterclass will also be open to observers.

Time: 10am - 1pm

Brady R. Allred, Conductor

 

Dr. Allred, the first recipient of the Ellen Neilson Barnes Presidential Endowed Chair for Choral Studies at The University of Utah in Salt Lake City, conducts The University of Utah Singers and A Cappella Choir and directs the MM and DMA programs in choral conducting. He is also Artistic Director of the Salt Lake Choral Artists and their Summer Choral Institute.

 

Dr. Allred has been featured as conductor, clinician, and jury member at major choral festivals and competitions including Tours, Nancy, Provence, and Vaison-la-Romaine, France; Tolosa, Spain; Maribor, Slovenia; and Marktoberdorf, Germany.·He has conducted over fifty regional and all-state festivals in theUnited States and was recently named one of Utah’s “Cultural Powerbrokers.” His MM and DMA in Conducting are from the Eastman School of Music.

Tribal Chamber Choir

 

Tribal Chamber Choir, directed by Mark Keane, is based in·Galway City and takes its name from the more affectionate title “The City of the Tribes.”· In February 2009 the choir won the Sacred Music Competition at the Limerick Festival of Church Music, and in May won first prize in the National Premier Competition for Mixed Voice Choirs at the Cork International Choral Festival. As part of this competition, Tribal Chamber Choir received the highest marks in the premier competitions and was awarded the Victor Leeson Memorial Trophy and designated “National Choir of the Festival 2009.”
