Voices in my head: Choral Compositions and the Irish Context
This talk explored Dr. Rhona Clarke’s own compositions in the context of the choral music scene in Ireland and music written by other Irish composers since the founding of the state. The impetus for writing the music and the pull between opposing forces: the traditional and the avant-garde, the functional and the challenging, art and entertainment, were discussed. The focus was on short works for a cappella choirs.
