Performance Readings & Workshop of Seán Ó Riada Competition

Saturday 04 May, 10:00am
Stack Theatre, CIT Cork School of Music

An informative and practical open workshop for composers of choral music.  The workshop featured The National Chamber Choir of Ireland, Festival Choir in  Residence, and was facilitated by Paul Hillier.  Composers Rhona Clarke, Enda Bates, and Solfa Carlile were also in attendance.  The workshop session incorporated performance readings of works shortlisted for this year’s Seán Ó Riada Composition Competition and specifically featured discussion on Castaway by Glen Austin and Na Blátha Craige by Thomas Doorley.

This workshop was open to the general public, attracting composers, conductors, choristers, choral afficianados alike. If you missed the 2013 session, make sure to come next year and discover what makes a work suitable for choral performance.
