Curated by John Fitzpatrick

Cork International Choral Festival presented a Choral Symposium Fringe in 2016, offering a diversity of interesting talks and illustrated practical sessions on related aspects of choral practice over three days, curated by John Fitzpatrick, Festival Director. We drew attention in particular to the presentation by the internationally regarded Finnish composer, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, whose Prologue to Romeo and Juliet, received its premiere performance by Chamber Choir Ireland in its Friday Gala Concert. The compositions of Mäntyjärvi are widely performed by amateur choirs and the opportunity of meeting with the composer should not be missed. Attendees are very welcome to attend, at no charge.

The following talks and workshops were included in the 2016 Choral Symposium Fringe programme:

Choir Voicing Workshop

The Composer Speaks with Jaakko Mäntyjärvi

Alexander Technique Workshop

Singing Shakespeare with David Wordsworth

Association of Irish Choirs – Voice Production
