00455805 - 448x299.gifLaunched during the 59th Cork International Choral Festival, Choirs Can is a new and exciting online resource.  Apart from the obvious positive message in the title, the word can may also be read in the Irish language and translates as sing.

Many people will already be familiar with the melodies of the songs, which were all included in Cas Amhrán, the 1975 collection of songs assembled by Mícháel Ó hEidhin that can be found in homes and schools across the country. The Choirs Can project, led by Deirdre Moynihan, is aimed at secondary school or non -professional choirs and contains brand new arrangements by Deirdre herself, Mark Armstrong and Andrew Synnott, all well-established Irish composers and arrangers. The arrangements are varied in terms of style and difficulty level which means there will be a song to suit every choral group.

The Choirs Can project has made eight new choral arrangements of  Irish language songs from this collection freely available for choirs to download from Choirscan website.

  • Eight new choral arrangements of Irish language songs
  • Free download of scores from the website www.choirscan.com
  • Aimed at non-professional and secondary school choirs (Irish and International)
  • Eight Songpacks

Each Songpack contains:

  • PDF of sheet music
