Coro comunitario River Rhythms

corcho

River Rhythms Community Choir was set up in 2016 encompassing communities of Ballinhassig, Innishannon, Bandon and Kinsale. The Choir’s mission statement is to sing for wellbeing whilst bringing communities together and connecting people through voice. The choir operates on a voluntary basis and aims to make music accessible in a fun, learning and supportive environment. The community choir reaches their audience by doing local performances, singing for residential homes, supporting fundraising local community events, virtual choir videos and participating in choral festivals. The choir rehearses every Monday evening in Barrett’s Bar, Kileady

About the Choir Leader

In September of 2018 the choir fell under the new direction of Lorraine Florish who continues to lead the choir which has seen members increase from 14 to 44 members since her take over. Lorraine spent over a decade working for a private investment bank trying to put her Commerce degree to use but could no longer ignore her desire to follow her passion which was to teach and make music more accessible for all. Lorraine has over 15 years of piano teaching under her belt and loves choral singing. She spent many years getting her voice trained through Cork School of Music and spent six years singing with the Fleischman choir. She has also completed a conducting and private mentoring program in the School of Music. In 2020 she set up her own Flourishing Voices business and has turned teaching and running choirs into her career. Lorraine is passionate about helping people feel comfortable singing in a supportive setting and loves seeing her singers flourish along their own singing journey like she once did.
