Cantate, formed in Monkstown, Cork, in 2006, is a small and vibrant group of mixed voices. The choir's musical director is Daniel Beuster (danielbeuster.com). Cantate's repertoire caters for all tastes including choral, sacred, rock n’ roll, songs from musicals and contemporary classics. Previous choir collaborations include performances with renowned sopranos Cara O’Sullivan and Majella Cullagh. Cantate performs at local and charity events and in various choral festival competitions. Successes include wins in the Lynch Perpetual trophy, Féile an tSamhraidh and 1stplaced Mixed Voice Choir at the AIMS Choral Festival in 2018/2019. Cantate travelled to Amsterdam in 2019 and, later that year, staged a concert at Live at St. Lukes with Koor rooK, a Dutch choir that they met in Amsterdam. In 2020 during lockdown, Cantate created a virtual video with Koor rooK of an Irish Blessing which was widely viewed on YouTube. In 2022, Cantate performed in SOUNDS of SPRING Concert in UCC's Honan Chapel and at Nano Nagle Place as part of the Cork Choral Festival Trail. In November, Cantate performed in Musical Miscellany at the Freemason's Hall, raising money for local charities and in December hosted a public Christmas performance in St. Peter's Church in Cork.
