There is a long tradition of music and drama in the Central Bank of Ireland, stretching back over many years. At Christmas, a group of choristers and musicians would come together to perform at the annual Carols for Charity gig, which raised much-needed funds for the Simon Community and Focus Ireland. This evolved in November 2017 into what is now the Central Bank of Ireland Sports & Social staff choir ‘BankNotes’. The choir is named after the old staff newsletter, in a nod to the many talented staff who kept these creative traditions alive for many years. In March 2020, undeterred by the restrictions imposed by the global pandemic, BankNotes switched rehearsals to an online forum. Owing to the commitment of our indefatigable director, Tracy Nagle, the enthusiasm of the choristers and a steep learning curve, the choir is confident of its survival during and beyond 2021.
