Chorus Sanctae Ceciliae

Finland

Chorus Sanctae Ceciliae (CSC) was founded in 1953 in Helsinki by professor Harald Andersén. He conducted the choir between 1953 and 1965 after which the choir has had several distinct and proficient conductors. The choir’s repertoire is both sacred and profane and the choir’s aim is to perform music that is seldom heard in Finland, both new and older music. The choir is commissioning new music regularly. The choir has performed in TV and radio programmes. An LP was released 1973, and two CD's 2001 and 2003. CSC has attended choir festivals and held concerts around Europe. The choir was in Barcelona 2014 and in St Petersburg 2018 and performed at the Vaasa international Choir festival 2017.  Since 2015, the choir has been led by music director Pia Bengts.
