Cork Georgian Ensemble

Formed in 2015, the Cork Georgian Ensemble are a group of Irish musicians and singers that specialise in singing traditional Georgian folk songs. A mountainous country situated on the border of Europe and Asia, Georgia has a long history of traditional polyphonic singing which pre-dates Christianity and is characterised by dissonant harmonies. Georgian folk songs are often centered around feasts and communal celebrations where songs and toasts to peace, motherland, long life, love and friendship are often proposed.
