De La Salle Senior Choir

Ireland [Waterford]

De La Salle Senior Choir celebrates 22 years of singing this year having been founded by the Transition Years in the millennium year 2000. De la Salle is a male voice choir made up exclusively of tenors, baritones and basses. The choir rehearses once a week on a Wednesday after school. The choir comprises students from 1st year to 6th year.

In spite of the pandemic we have continued to sing each week. In the beginning just for ten minutes and we were so spread out we took up the entire space of our chapel. More recently we have increased our rehearsal time to 30 minutes. We have always worn masks. Last Christmas we managed to do mini-carol services for every year group on our school. It went down very well and gave us a sense that things might be getting back to normal.

The choir enjoys singing at concerts and competitions and the Cork Choral Festival is always a highlight of our year. It is even more important this year since we haven't been here in so long.
