Fingal Gospel Choir are a community choir based in North County Dublin. Founded in March 2012,the choir rapidly expanded from a small group of friends singing for fun to an award-winning gospel choir. In just over 18 months, the choir entered their first ever choral competition, and were awarded the First Place trophy in the SATB Competition at Sligo International Choral Festival 2013. A year later, they were awarded Second Place in the Mixed Voices competition at Navan Choral Festival, and in November of that year the FGC returned to Sligo International Choral Festival to defend the title. After a very close call, they received 2nd place in the same competition. FGC perform regularly at church masses and for charitable organizations, helping to give back to the community. Their favourite performance of 2018 was singing at a sold-out Christ Church Cathedral alongside the High Hopes Choir and Dublin Ukulele Collective, raising approximately €10,000 for Focus Ireland. And in November of 2019 the choir headlined a benefit concert in Balbriggan for Temple Street Children’s Hospital raising over €4,000. This is the Fingal Gospel Choir’s third visit to Cork International Choral Festival, and you know what they say, three is a magic number! FGC are all about community spirit, cooperation and teamwork and enjoying the opportunities given. Their mission is to spread joy and happiness through singing and performing for the people - by the people.
