Maria Judge is Head of Musicianship and Academic Studies at the MTU Cork School of Music. She studied at UCC and at the Kodály Institute, Hungary. In addition to her Leadership of one of the largest Departments in the Cork School of Music, Maria has responsibility for the CSM Junior and Senior Childrens’ Choruses as well as establishing Cappella Lyrica, an award-winning female-voice choir and Coro, a new mixed-voice chamber choir of CSM Degree students.  

The CSM Childrens’ Choruses perform twice yearly and present repertoire from the Children’s Choral Literature, many from the pens of Irish composers such a Brian Boydell, John Buckley, Sean Doherty, Sue Furlong and Havelock Nelson. They regularly compete in the RTE Lyric FM Carols for Christmas Competition. Highlights of the choirs’ experience are, a recording of a CD and three performances of a specially commissioned Mass for Peace, a performance for the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese on the occasion of her official visit to the School, participation in a performance of Ralph Vaughan William’s Hodie and Arthur Honegger’s Christmas Cantata. In 2019, the CSM Childrens’ Chorus performed in the Premiere of A Different Wolf a dance-opera by JunkEnsemble and Dumbworld at the Cork Opera House.
