MTU Glór Choral Society

Cork

MTU Glór Choral Society was founded in 2019 and has grown from strength to strength since its establishment. We are based in the Cork School of Music and comprised of students from all MTU campuses. We are led by a dedicated and united student committee and professional conductor, Ms Caitríona Fitzmaurice. Our main goal is to create a fun, yet competitive atmosphere to the magical world of choral singing. Our core value is centred around inclusion for all students with a passion for singing and performance, regardless of their background or musical training.

Caitríona Fitzmaurice is a multi-award-winning singer, having graduated from the MTU Cork School of Music with first class honours in 2022 where she studied voice under Mary Hegarty and Majella Cullagh. She received the Alan Cutts Memorial Award for her outstanding grades in her conducting electives in college. She was the Apprentice Conductor for the world premiere of 'Morrigan' in the Cork Opera House in the summer of 2022.

Our biggest achievement to date is being awarded Ireland’s Choir of the Year at the 2023 Cork International Choral Festival. We are so proud of our victory, and so grateful for the incredible platform and status it has given us. We cannot wait to return to the festival this year to compete on the international stage.
