Ursuline Singers (Thurles)The choir competing in the equal voice post primary competition is our school’s chamber choir, The Ursuline Singers. The choir was formed 17 years ago in November 2006. It is comprised of 45students, divided into four parts. The Choir’s repertoire is predominantly unaccompanied and includes jazz, gospel classical, Irish, Latin American & medieval music. The choir participates in all the school’s religious services and masses and performs at the school's annual Musical Evening. Over the past 17 years the choir has competed at Feis Ceoil, RTE’s All Island School Choir, Lyric FM’s Carols for Christmas Competition and the Cork International Choral Festival. The choir also undertakes an annual exam with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and has performed on several occasions at the Academy’s National Gala Concert for High Achievers, which features performers from all over the country. During Covid Restrictions, the choir moved online and produced several virtual performances, ensuring that choral singing remained an integral part of our school’s musical life over the past 2years. We are delighted to be back to full, live rehearsals and performance this year. The Cork Choral Festival has always been the culmination and high point of our choral calendar. Weare very much looking forward to performing again this year.
