Cór Geal is a 4-part mixed choir of some 50 adults based in Whitechurch, Co. Cork. Since its foundation in 2009 by its musical director, Betty Fitzgerald, it has gone from strength to strength entertaining and uplifting audiences through choral singing. Its varied and interesting repertoire includes sacred, Irish, popular, jazz, classical, and contemporary music. Cór Geal has become renowned for its exciting and popular choral concert productions, it’s most recent one called “Showtime” at the Cork Opera House in October 2022. During lockdown the choir remained active by taking their singing and learning online. Over a period of 18 months, it produced seven virtual choir videos, and the huge benefits from this, for the social, emotional, and mental well-being of the members were only realized afterwards. Over the last 13 years, Cór Geal has raised thousands for charity and has had much success in choral competitions. Activities carried out in the choir include rehearsing, performing, travelling, and generally having a good time! Cór Geal adds to the diversity and social inclusion of community life, provides musical education for it’s members, and is happy to sing anywhere, on or off line!
