A Escola de Clongowes Wood College

Wexford

The Schola of Clongowes Wood College, was formed in 2011, to sing each Sunday during term at the whole School Mass in the College and to animate the liturgical life of the campus throughout the year. Its repertoire consists almost solely of sacred and liturgical music from Gregorian chant to contemporary Christian music. An annual highlight each year is the Easter service of Tenebrae with invited soloists to recreate the drama through music and word of the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. In 2017 the Schola was invited to sing at the Beatification ceremony of Blessed John Sullivan in Gardiner St Church Dublin. In 2018 the Schola was awarded 1st prize at the Navan Choral Festival for Post Primary Youth choirs (Liturgical Music). Clongowes is an all-boys seven day boarding school outside Clane in Co Kildare. It is a Catholic Jesuit school in the Ignatian tradition, and all students are boarders, 7 days a week. This is the Schola’s first time competing at the Cork Choral Festival. Their conductor is Cyril Murphy – Director of Liturgy at Clongowes Wood College.
