Ashton School is a Church of Ireland co-educational school under the joint patronage of the Church of Ireland Bishop of Cork and Cork Education and Training Board.
Ashton School Choir currently rehearses before school three and sometimes four mornings a week. The current choir is made up of students from first to sixth year. Students are not auditioned.
Ashton School Choir, which currently has around forty members, boasts success in national and international competitions. In 2023, they won the National Competition for Schools (Mixed Voiced category) at the Cork International Choral Festival. In April 2024 they represented Ireland at Vox Lucensis in Lucca, Italy, winning a top level Silver award. In 2025, they won the Overall Irish Prize at the Cork International Choral Festival, where they were presented with the the Irish Federation of Musicians Trophy. They were winners of Coir Iarbhunscoile at Feis Ceoil 2025.
In March 2026, Ashton School Choir represented Ireland at the ‘Cantaquera Festival Coral Internacional’ run by Interkultur in Antequera, Spain.
