UCC Singers is the competitive sub-choir of University College Cork’s Choral Society, conducted by Ben Jacob. Formed in September 2014, the choir comprises both undergraduate and postgraduate students from all departments of the university. UCC Singers is active during the academic year with 35-40 auditioned members who partake in weekly rehearsals. The choir performs a wide variety of music and takes pride in collaborating with contemporary choral composers.
In October 2025, UCC Singers competed in the City of Derry International Choir Festival where they placed third in the “Oak Tree of Derry” International competition. At the revival of the All-Ireland Choral Intervarsity in February 2025, they were delighted to receive 1st place in both the Sacred Music and Ireland’s University Choir of the Year competitions. At last year’s Cork International Choral Festival, the choir received first place in the Church Music category and were awarded the Victor Leeson Perpetual Trophy as winners of the prestigious “Ireland’s Choir of the Year” Competition.
