The choir is our school’s chamber choir and was formed almost 20 years ago in November 2006. It is comprised of 29 students, divided into four parts. The Choir’s repertoire is predominantly unaccompanied and includes Jazz, Gospel, Classical, Irish, Latin American & Medieval Music.
The choir participates in all of the school’s religious services and masses, and performs at the school’s annual Musical Evening. Over the past 20 years the choir has had great success competing at Feis Ceoil, in RTE’s All Island School Choir, Lyric FM’s Carols for Christmas Competition, the Limerick Choral Festival, Navan Choral Festival and the Cork International Choral Festival. The choir also undertakes an annual exam with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and has performed on several occasions at the Academy’s National Gala Concert for High Achievers, which features performers with the top exam results from all over the country.
Last Christmas, the choir participated in a performance of Oh Holy Night, featuring combined choirs and orchestras of the Ursuline Secondary school. The choir is particularly proud this year, of its past pupil and alumnus, internationally acclaimed singer and actress, Jessie Buckley, who was a founding member of this choir, in its first iteration in 2006.
