Viva Voce

This mixed voice choir, Viva Voce, was established in September 2003 under its Musical Director Bernadette Kiely. It is an adult mixed voice choir of 54 members. Viva Voce like to travel to Festivals throughout Europe. They have visited Vienna, Nice, Riva del Garda, Rome, Amsterdam, Derry and other venues around Ireland. They performed in the National Concert Hall Dublin in 2019. Viva Voce are strong supporters of local charities. They perform carols at Christmas and sing at other fundraising events throughout Cork. The choir enjoy performing in local Nursing Homes. In 2017 The choir presented a joint performance of the Faure Requiem in Cork, with choirs from Galway and Rome. In 2018 they performed at the Opening Gala Concert at the Cork International Choral Festival. In 2024 the choir shared the stage of City Hall Cork for the concert Carols by Candlelight with soprano Claudia Boyle and the City of Cork Symphony Orchestra. They were winners in the National Competition for Mixed Voice Choirs at the Cork International Choral Festival in 2014, 2016, & 2022. Twice winners of the trophy for Irish Contemporary Music at the Cork International Choral Festival in 2008 & 2009. Winners of Sacred and Mixed Voice competitions at Feis Maitiu Cork, and Limerick Sacred.
