Mayfield Library, situated near Montenotte on the Old Youghal Road, serves the people of the north-east suburb of Cork city and its surrounding area. When it opened to the public in November 1984, this was the fifth local library branch. The Mayfield Library is officially named the Frank O’Connor Library, since it was dedicated in his memory in October 1999. A permanent exhibition commemorating O’Connor’s life is on display.
