Make memories at our sumptuous Gala concerts

Whether you’re a choral aficionado or simply looking for a new musical experience, the 59th Cork International Choral Festival took everyone on an inspiring musical journey on the May Bank Holiday.

The Festival’s Opening Gala Concert featured Cork’s own Fleischmann Choir, the Cork School of Music Symphony Orchestra and The Band of the First Southern Brigade (1st May) at City Hall while Cork Opera House hosted one of the leading forces on the vocal music scene today and Sweden’s number one, The Real Group (2nd May). Two of Cork’s finest Cathedrals showcased Ireland’s premier ensemble, The National Chamber Choir (3rd May) in St Fin Barre’s Cathedral at 7.30pm and one of the UK’s finest and most versatile a cappella groups, The Songmen (3rd May) in the Cathedral of St Mary and St Anne at 10.30pm. The Fleischmann International Trophy Competition (4th May) took pride of place at City Hall where some of the world’s top amateur choirs competed for one of the most prestigious international prizes. The Closing Gala Concert at City Hall (5th May) marked the end of a jam packed Festival week with International choirs presenting choral music representative of their musical and ethnic backgrounds in a joyful celebration of song and colour.
