Congratulations to Voci Nuove

Many congratulations to Cork based vocal ensemble Voci Nuove and their conductor, Colm O’Regan, on their major success in winning the International Competition, and also being awarded 1st Prize in the Sacred Music Competition, at last weekend’s inaugural  Derry International Choral Festival.  This is a wonderful achievement for this young choir.  Voci Nuove were previous prize-winners at the Cork International Choral Festival  and one of the choirs featured in the Festival’s Fringe Concert Series in 2013.

Brian Ó Dubhghaill RIP

The news of the death of Brian Ó Dubhghaill, former Music Inspector and Director of Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath, on 17 October 2013, brings to an end a major chapter in the choral life of Ireland, and of the Cork International Choral Festival.  Brian and Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath participated with great success in the festival and his consummate musicianship and artistry always impacted on the audience and, needless to say, the adjudicators.  He made a major contribution to the development of choral music in this country and Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath had a well-deserved national and international reputation.  Brian was well known in the musical and educational life of the country in his work as DES Inspector, conductor, adjudicator, and a great supporter of the Festival over many years.   A fine musician and a man of integrity, he was kind, gentle, and self-effacing and was highly regarded by all who knew him. Our next festival will be the 60th Celebration Festival and he would have been one of the few persons left whose choral life straddled that period. The Festival extends its deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

Congratulations once again to last year's winners of IRELAND'S CHOIR OF THE YEAR, New Dublin Voices and their conductor Bernie Sherlock who were also awarded 2nd Prize in the Fleischmann International Trophy Competition! Festival recordings now available!

What a year!  What a Festival!  Now that everyone's made their way home, gathered their wits back together, and sat around with friends reminiscing fondly about being on the banks of the lovely Lee, it's time to get hold of a recording or two.  Here in the office we have un-mastered recordings of all the City Hall competitions, and a few other recordings besides.  If you, your choir or your friends would be interested in hearing any of these sessions, drop us an email making a note of which competition you were in, and we'll get them to you.

The cost is €15 for one session, €25 for two, and €30 for three, with additional costs for packaging and postage if applicable.  The easiest way of getting them is to let us transfer them to you digitally, so you can have them immediately upon receipt of payment.
