Yana Deliradeva

Yana Deliradeva is a distinguished Bulgarian choral conductor, widely recognized for her innovative work with children’s choirs and her long-standing commitment to music education.

She studied choral conducting in Bulgaria and the United States and earned her Master’s degree at Westminster Choir College in Princeton under the mentorship of Prof. Joseph Flummerfelt.

Since 2011, she has served as Chief Conductor of the renowned Detska Kitka Children’s Choir in Plovdiv, leading over 150 singers from more than 35 schools. Under her artistic direction, the choir has maintained its tradition of excellence while embracing contemporary, inclusive, and interdisciplinary approaches to repertoire and performance.

Yana Deliradeva is Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv and works as a vocal coach at the Kids’ Academy of the Plovdiv State Opera. She is actively engaged in the professional development of young conductors and promotes modern, holistic rehearsal practices.

She has served as a jury member at numerous international choral competitions, bringing a broad artistic perspective and pedagogical sensitivity to the evaluation of choirs and conductors.

Her international activity includes leading conducting workshops in the United States, Sweden, and Bulgaria. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards recognizing her artistic achievements and contributions to the choral field.

Currently, she is pursuing a doctoral dissertation entitled “Implementation of Body Methods in the Rehearsal Process with Children’s Choirs”, focusing on the integration of movement and physical awareness in choral pedagogy.

Most recently, she joined the Choral Academy at the Sofia Art Institute, Sofia, Bulgaria, where she serves as mentor of the academy’s entire educational program, shaping its pedagogical framework and artistic vision.
